Vlc won't Play mp4 files

Vlc stop playing Mp4 files just the other day now its not the file because i'm using another mp4 player and it works great but again Vlc won't play it and i tried to fix in Preferences but to no avail can somebody help me on this

I just had the same issue. Windows 7, VLC 2.2.1.

I open the MP4 file and it just shows a white screen while the video plays.
The video plays just fine using Windows Media Player.

Try another video output module:

And/or disable/enable GPU acceleration:

You can also try to enable or disable some video options such as Overlay and/or Hardware YUV -> RGB conversions.


And/or try another audio output module:

I just found this info, and it worked for me:
In VLC click Tools
Click preferences
Click Input / Codecs
Then under Codecs, change "Hardware-accelerated decoding" from "disabled" to "Automatic."

I don't know why that worked or why it wasn't enabled automatically in the first place.

I had trouble searching this forum to find that response, and at first it was frustrating that I saw so many responses in the search results but this was the only one I found at first that described the problem I was having.
