AIFF files in folders only play one track at a time

Postby bixby » 03 Jul 2015 00:19

Using new Lumia 640 phone and latest VLC for Windows phone. AIFF files are in folders on SD card, when selecting SD card can see folders and content but pressing "play folder" does not work. Also warning about "files may not play in background" seems to be true; as soon as the lock screen activates, music stops.

Tested Wav files and Play folder seems to work but again lock screen activates and kills music.

Anyway to play complete folder of aiff files ?

Anyway to keep music playing when phone locks so you can put it in your pocket and listen?

thanks for all your hard work on getting this to Windows phone platform, aiff playback is sorely needed.

I use mp3's and like to use wav files too for cleaner sound.
However I find on my Lumia running WP 8.1 that I too get no audio when screen locks.
It is very VERY annoying and makes certain things impractical.
Yes, I could convert files to mp3, but fear I would lose too much quality with certain genres.

Forgive my ignorance, but why can't a .wav be played when screen is locked?
I guess devs do recognize that it is a rather weak point in comparison to how VLC functions on other platforms?
Please know that this is not a dig at devs, but rather just genuine curiosity from a music producer.

Because the Microsoft APIs do not allow any application to go in background. You must use their player for this...
