check for valid audio file

Hello. I am writing a program to go though my music folder and read the mp3 tags from the audio files. But there are also non audio files in the folders like the album art. I was wondering if there is a valid audio check when loading libvlc_media_new_path with a non audio file so I don't have to have a list of valid audio file extensions and check every file against the list.
