Local DVD Menu not showing correctly

Postby adastro » 16 Apr 2015 21:21

Some days ago I updated from 2.1.5 to 2.2.0 and today I installed the 2.2.1. (all 64bits).
But in both versions 2.2.0 and 2.2.1 I have encountered a problem with local DVD menus.

First background is flat grey where it used to be in a lighter shade. But more annoying is that the video thumbs of the clips are not visible at all at first. Alas the area they are supposed to be still is highlighting on mouse over (yellow colour as it should be on these DVD´s *) .
Clicking the higlighted area start the correct clip that plays allright, just with a halv sceond of a transition from grey (this transistion was not there before.)

Not really knowing what I am doing I tried to update my codecs but that did not help.

The only way I found I could to get the DVD menus back was to past copies of my old VLC 2.1.5. program files and AppData Roming vlc files back in place.

So what is wrong? Anyone who has a clue?

How can I update my VLC player and not menus greyed out again?

/fred

*)The local DVD´s are all created using TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5)

You need to share the logs of both versions.

I have the exact same issue on my Homemade TMGENC Authoring Works 4) DVD menues, all greyed with vague yellow thumbnails appearing on latest VLC player (never happened on prior VLC versions). Anyone going to answer the query? Please help.

I've got the same problem with discs made using Sony DVD Architect Pro 6.0 build 237 (current version as of writing) and older.

VLC version 2.1.5 is the last version to work properly, now all menus are green screen.

Nobody has responded with log files yet, so here ya go. First a log file from v2.2.1, which green screens. Then a log file from v2.1.5, which works fine.

Log from VLC 2.2.1:

I'm using VLC v.2.2.1 on Windows 8.1 x64 and I can confirm that I'm experiencing the same issue with DVD menus. I have searched and found that this bug isn't present in the Debug version of this Nightly build: http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win ... 0412-0402/. It is possible the bug isn't present in other nightly builds but I haven't had time to test them.

Please upload to either http://streams.videolan.org/upload/ or to Zippyshare.com (200 MB max) or to EmbedUpload.com, the latter will upload the file for you to several other hosts (use the default ones) and then post the link to the file here.

Uploaded to VideoLAN. And also to Zippyshare: http://www37.zippyshare.com/v/eykxvy6Y/file.html

Hopefully you can get one of those to work for you . . . . .

Confirmed that the green screen bug is not present in the above mentioned nightly; DVD menus display and function normally. I used the regular Win x64 exe installer, not the debug version.

However, the green screen is back in the latest nightly (vlc-3.0.0-git-20150702-0403-win64.exe). I didn't try any versions between these 2.

Use 32bits, please, to test.

Same results. Green screen on v2.2.1 32-bit.

(BTW, if the email alert function on this site worked properly, I'd have received an email that there were new comments. I didn't know until your second message that there was any activity on this thread. Just saying.)

Latest 32-bit build (vlc-3.0.0-git-20150725-0002-win32) seems to work.

Hoping that the parallel version 3 64-bit version will come soon... (videolan website still has version 2.2.1 as latest.
2.2.1 is the one that's misbehaving on my system [not showing DVD menu upon opening])
