Hello,
I need help to find the proper way, if possible, to pass through a Dolby-E data stream to S/PDIF (or Toslink) digital output of my PC using VLC.
I use my PC to record DVB data stream in TS format. Those MPEG2 or MPEG4 data streams contain Video and multiple Audio tracks. VLC can play most of them, except for the Dolby-E track, who contain the multiple surround audio stream.
I obtain an external Dolby-E decoder, who is hookup properly. My problem is finding a way to feed the raw Dolby-E material to the decoder via the S/PDIF interface. In every configuration I tried, the data stream is manipulate, translate, or transcode and the output is no longer a valid Dolby-E data stream. The decoder see it as Stereo PCM data only.
I tried multiple audio cards, audio drivers, setup in VLC, even other player like MPC-HC, but I never have been able to feed the external decoder with a proper Dolby-E data stream. I invest many hours in the process with no success. Maybe the solution is simple, but I must admit not having find it. In some instance, I have setups to set as pass through (direct or any other name the function may have), data stream for AC3, Dolby-D, DTS, or other audio format, but never Dolby-E, and by so, no apparent way to do it.
Do someone have any suggestions?
I run out of ideas.
Bye
Jacques
