How to convert a MP4 video file to a DVD format?!

Postby Haxorinator » 14 May 2015 08:26

Hello! This is my first time posting and I hope someone can help me out!

I've been searching for hours on how tos and I've been encoding for hours but whenever I attempt to make a file for a DVD it fails.
I also couldn't find a reputable software to burn. I prefer ImgBurn, however it seems that ImgBurn wont make a DVD because when I output the file (after attempting to convert it) it is unsupported :( :?:

I need to convert a 14 minute Full HD 1080p 60fps MP4 clip I made that is approx. 5.05Gb for a school project.

This is what I've done so far.

Made the profile "Video - MPEG-2 + MPGA (TS)"
Changed settings to-
Encapsulation: MPEG-PS (This is DVD right? because its not [TS])
Video Codec: MPEG-2
-Bitrate: 9800Kb/s (for max quality)
-Framerate: 29.97 fps (NTFS)
-Resolution: 720px x 480px
Audio Codec:
-Codec: A52/AC-3 (also tried MPEG Audio, no difference in result)
-128 kb/s
-2 Channels
-48000 Hz Sample Rate

I then choose a destination output and hit start.

Process takes about 10-15 minutes and the output file is about 1Gb.

Then, I get a file in (.ps) which I assumed could be burned but doesn't look like any software I've used can read it.

Tried WMP, ImgBurn and DVDFlick.

All my settings look correct to me (I'm no expert) but any thorough and specific help would be appreciated. :D
Also, any suggestions on burning software?

System Specs (in case it affects anything?):
i7-2630QM
GTX 560M
8Gb Ram
Windows 7 64-bit
500Gb Hdd

Keep track of this

http://www.videolan.org/vlmc/

I don't think it's live & available yet.

Meanwhile do a google on mp4 to dvd conversion. There are tons of free tools but i'm also eagery awaiting the new VLC product.

If you convert it to DVD format you should get a few files ( unless you are the only one in the world that hasn't downloaded a ripped dvd yet you 'll know which files i refer to )

Here are the supported video formats for encoding by the VLC:

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.php?cat=video

Encoding to VOB is not possible.
