Subtitles not loading (never ever) 1.3.3.7

Hello,
for both the previous and the current version, my subtitle files don't load. Ever.

Never mind if they are sub or srt.
I tried to rename them to the same file name like the videos for auto load - not working. Manual loading also don't help.
But they load perfectly fine on my Win 8 laptop, on all VLC, BS player and MPCHC.

Is there only a specific subtitle type supported? Or this is a bug?
Lumia 1520.


PP: On the other hand subtitles embedded in the files - like manga MKV videos are OK (an thanks god, I can go on without subs in English, but in Japanese it would have been impossible )

That is strange since 1.3.3.7 on my Lumia1520 about 99% of my anime doesn't display the subs anymore, it was about 55-ish % before.

I unsuccessfully tried many recommendations. I got tired...
I solved the problem this way:

1) Uninstall VLC (make sure to MANUALLY delete all VLC folders in the hard-disk)
2) Reinstall VLC
