Crash of VLC playing from a folder

Postby Pwannaz » 20 Apr 2015 14:01

Hi, in recent version I get a crash of VLC, when I try to start reading a movie stored inside a folder. The first movie of the folder works, but if I select any other movie instead of the first one, the application freeze and crash.
Playing a movie randomly from the start window is ok.
Any fix for that ?
Thanks for your great movie reader?..I use it daily.

Are you using VLC on iPad or iPhone? Which iOS version?

I experienced the same thing. I can only choose the first video in a folder to play, if I try it with any other video in the folder VLC crashes. I am using VLC for iOS Version 2.5.1 (1) on an iPad mini iOS Version 8.3.

I also experienced another bug: I use VLC to play tv series, but they are not named after this certain pattern, so VLC doesn't recognize them automatically. For me that's no problem: I uploaded the Videos and put them into folders. Within the folders I grouped all the episodes chronologically. However, the exact grouping of the episodes is mixed up reguglarly e.g. episode 10 is before episode 8 although I grouped it correctly before. But somehow VLC doesn't save this grouping. That's quite annoying, because everytime I start to watch a series, I need to check the correct grouping order. I hope you fix this bug fast!

Thanks for your detailed feedback! I forwarded it to the developer who implemented the folder feature :)

We isolated the reason for this issue and will provide a fix in the next update.

I recently updated to iOS 8.4 and VLC 2.6.0 (10) on my iPad mini.

The crash issue is perfectly resolved. But my second issue remains unfixed. Folders still do not maintain the order of files, constantly mixing up the episodes of the series I'm watching on VLC.
