Hi,
due to the fact that it is still not possible to trigger the iOs VLC Player app from within the Synology DS File app. What about the idea to connect to various NAS system via SMB?
Kind regards,
Michael
Not to necro, but is this code available somewhere to look at? I was looking into creating some open source iOS apps that would need to be able to access SMB shares and had seen some of the other libraries out there that didn't seem that useful and it would be awesome to be able to use the library you mentioned. We successfully implemented the entire SMB protocol in version 1 and 2 as an external library now and it works well. Now, VLC needs to be adapted and it will be available. So, this feature will be published later this summer.
SMB support seems to still be absent in the latest version of VLC for iOS...We successfully implemented the entire SMB protocol in version 1 and 2 as an external library now and it works well. Now, VLC needs to be adapted and it will be available. So, this feature will be published later this summer.
Good to know that this useful feature has not been crossed out!We pushed it back a bit but it's still coming. Actually, it is not the implementation of SMB to blame here but further adaptions which needs to be done like safely handling stored passwords, etc.
