Is there a problem with the "Forgot Your Password" feature?

Postby spaceman5 » 25 Apr 2015 15:23

Hi

From what I remember, I used to have an account in these forums.

Since I did not remember my password, I went to the Register page, then clicked "Forgot your password" link,
then entered my email address. (and not entering any username in the username field)

It told me that it cannot find it...

Since it told me it cannot find it, I tried to Register with that email, via the Register page,
and after completing the info in that page, when I click sumbit I get "There is already an account registered with this email".......

So, Is there an account with this email, or not? :)

How can I restore my account?

(I am now writing via a new account that I created with a 2nd email address)

Is there a bug in the "Forgot your password" feature, or did I do something incorrectly?
(is it OK that I left the "username" field empty? I do not remember what it was..)

Thank you

Small note:

I now stumbled upon this thread:
"Allow username retrieval for this forum"
https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=122929

So maybe the problem is indeed that I only filled my Email Address, but not filled my Username there?

But I have no way to know what it was..

Is there some admin that I can send PM with my email address, so he can tell me my username, so I can then finally succeed in resetting my password?

Thank you
