Recent Nightly build do not play files from Samba network shares

Postby mothball » 22 Mar 2015 08:08

i thought i would post a recent issue i am having with recent nightly builds for win64 version of vlc. When I attempt to play files loaded from NAS devices (SMB Shares) VLC tells me it can't open the file/folder not found - here is the error message text i get:

"File reading failed:
VLC could not open the file "\\roda\usbdisk2\MOVIES_[1080P]\GUARDIANS_OF_THE_GALAXY_[1080P].m4v" (No such file or directory).
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'file://roda/usbdisk2/MOVIES_%5B1080P%5D/GUARDIANS_OF_THE_GALAXY_%5B1080P%5D.m4v'. Check the log"

the file is located on the network path \\rodan\usbdisk2... VLC appears to be dropping the "n" in rodan for the network path. Version 2.2.0 works fine - no issues there, and i can get nightly to play the file if I map rodan to a local drive. I just want to see if the dev team knows of this issue in the nightly builds

GREAT JOB TO THE TEAM - really i mean that in all sincerity VLC is simply the best media player out there and its crosses platforms

cheers!

Did you try 2.2.1 or 3.0.0 Nightly build?

last version was vlc-3.0.0-git-20150322-0403-win64 and a few nightly builds since 20150302... i have not gone back and determined where the break was between versions.

I have not found the 64 bit version of 2.2.1 - is it available on the servers?

A follow up to my original post, this afternoon I downloaded and installed the latest nightly version [vlc-3.0.0-git-20150404-0402-win64.exe] and I am happy to report that the problem with my samba shares has been fixed "YEAH"...

A VERY SINCERE THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CORRECTED THE PROBLEM... please continue the great work...
