How to make VLC buffer while on pause?

How to make VLC buffer while on pause?

Postby kylescousin » 17 Mar 2015 20:46

Hi,

Sometimes when streaming a large file over the home wifi network, the speed is too low to stream movies that are over 10GB. I already increased the buffer size, but that does just buffer a little further ahead while playing. Is it possible to start the video and pauze it, so that it continues buffering? That way the first 30 or so minutes can be buffered before starting to watch and no skips would occur. Possible or any other way to resolve this?

Regards

The best thing to do... it depends. On a battery-powered device, the best thing to do when paused is to stop using the network connection.

And no, it's not currently possible. Nobody wrote the code for that yet.
