windows integration problems

Postby wonderlust76 » 20 Jun 2010 14:06

Hi guys,

I'm new in this forum, I hope to get the needed help :)
I downloaded and installed the latest VLC version. Before the new installation I uninstalled the older version of vlc, used ccleaner and regseeker...so all ok.
Problems I noticed with the new version:

1) Pure cosmetic problem: even if I selected vlc as the default program for mp3, avi, etc ...they are always marked by the wmp icon (except flv, they are marked by the vlc icon).
2) I can't see vlc in the installed applications list (control pannel).
3) I can't see vlc in the start menu program list.
4) Most important, I can't see vlc in the windows contest menu (right click) to play a compilation (play with vlc) I can see only "play with wmp".

Is there someone facing the same issues?? How could I fix them?

thanks for any reply

Wonder.

Edit: fortunately I fixed the problem performing a new installation from scratch...

I actually experienced the same problems when I first installed VLC (been so long that I can't really recall which version it was). A friend suggested that I uninstall and reinstall it, see what happens. Didn't work the first time, but strangely it worked after I tried rebooting between the uninstall and reinstall steps. Didn't see those problems again in later versions, so I guess someone in charge caught wind of the issue.
