Streaming/Network Questions

Hi,

I'm new to the world of VideoLAN. I've just read the manuals for the play and streaming uses of it and I still have a few questions.

1) Is it possible to run VideoLAN as a server on one computer (that I can then hide away in a cupboard), and use my main computer with a videolan gui (or similar) on it as a remote control. I know I read something about it in the manuals, but I got confused!

2) I'd like to have a network consisting of one server, and a couple of clients. If I want to play a cd, is it at all possible that i could play it from the client's cd drive, rather than the server's. Preferably without having to change loads of settings about!

3) I'd like to use the videolan server as a way of controlling the clients. Each time I set up a stream on the server, do I then have to go round each client and set it to listen to the stream, or can they be set to automatically listen to whatever the server is sending out?

4) Is it possible for the server to wake up the clients on its network using wake on lan?
