converting from MOV to MP4 in version 2.1.5 Rincewind

Postby chart01 » 14 Jan 2015 23:20

Hi, I used VLC previously, but have just upgraded to this newer version and none of the documentation or screen shots in the how-to match the interface with this version. It used to be very easy to convert files, but now I'm not sure what settings to use or select. Currently, I'm trying to convert a MOV file to MP4 but I can't get the settings right. At one point it will convert but I will have no sound if playing the file on WMP or Quicktime, but the video is fine. The converted file will play fine on VLC player. Other changes in settings will also result in no sound with any player.

Can anyone provide the settings I need to select to convert the files for this? The instructions just don't match.

Thanks

You do know that MOV and MP4 are 2 different flavours of MP4, right?

However, try handbrake.
