No TrueHD 7.1 downmix?

Postby Techflaws » 20 Dec 2014 07:11

I'm ripping my Blurays with MakeMKV (so no re-encoding) for playback on my WDTV, testing the rips on my Win 8.1 PC in VLC 2.1.5. The PC has two speakers attached to the analouge onboard sound and I get sound from pretty much any codec but apparently not from TrueHD 7.1. Is this not supported in yet? I'm getting sound in MPC-HC but I prefer VLC. Thx.

D'uh, it has. I didn't realize it because my WDTV played it just fine and Mediainfo did not mention Atmos as you can see in the output I pasted above. So what does MPC-HC do differently?
