Control multiple VLC instances on server via Android

Postby cableguy1 » 26 Nov 2014 09:03

Hi,

sorry if I created this post on a wrong place(please let me know if I did). Recently I bought a house where Im planning to have speakers in some of the rooms connected to a single computer. I would like to have VLC running on the computer and controlling it via mobile application in every room separately(the computer will have multiple sound cards). So when I connect to VLC (or to the particular VLC instance) on the computer via the cell phone, I would like to play an audio file in one room, other audio file in the second room, in the same time. I know that VLC has a web interface which is great, but how can I use it for multiple VLC instances or so? Anybody has any ideas?

I figured it out, VLC can be ran from command line with options to set up http port and sound card selection, therefore I can multiple VLC instances with different http port and sound card setting, in my android app all the instances will be defined with same IP address but with different port(they will be entered as different servers)
