Streaming from WiFi drive

Postby Mr.X » 21 Nov 2014 01:44

Is it possible to play movies from a WiFi drive?
I know the IP of the drive, but I can't figure out how to open it in VLC. Using "Add computer manually" and entering the IP doesn't seem to work.
The helper isn't what I want as this is a standalone WiFi drive (Patriot Gauntlet Node).

If your drive supports UPnP, VLC can access it directly.

If it doesn't, there is a number of WiFi drive manufacturers providing apps with VLC support, so you browse the device with your vendors' app, click play and the actual playback happens in VLC.
