[Ubuntu Gnome 14.10] Video flickers / flashes black

Postby The Bright Side » 14 Nov 2014 20:38

Hey guys,

Going crazy... I really hope you can help me with this one.

Ever since I updated to Ubuntu Gnome 14.10, 64-bit (NVidia graphics card, latest drivers), video playback flickers in VLC. Anybody else experience this? I went through all video outputs there are, and the problem persists with all of them. Is there anything else I could try?

Thanks!

I never solved this completely... Though for some reason, it's stopped in most cases. I'm now on Ubuntu GNOME 15.04, 64-bit, with a GeForce 970 GTX. Only DVDs are unwatchable on my PC right now, which I solve either by ripping them to MKV or by booting into Windows.

Does this happen with all video formats for you? If not, transcoding might be a workaround.
