Hi,

Have the following problems:

1. Android Box (Rockchip RK3188 SoC) - sound and video async.
2. Android Box (Amlogic s802 SoC) - no video, only sound.
3. Nexus 10 (CM 11) - got the dialog 'HW decoding failed'

Should I start debug build and post some additional info?

We don't support #2 as of now since Amlogic doesn't use MediaCodec.

It should work fine on #3.

Not sure about #1 since none of us have that kind of hardware.

Hi

I have a Nexus 10 tablet running KitKat 4.4.4. I am unable to access my PC local files via smb://iP adress/folder. All other apps such as ES File Explorer, Chromecast, etc can access them fine. Please advise.

We don't support SMB on Android yet.

You can play network streams, but streaming to ChromeCast is not supported yet.

Due to the problem with audio delay on Rockchip RK3188 SoC: I've uploaded logcat it shows that I use core libvlc: revision 2.2.0-pre3-33-g465acb4. Is any new version that I can test or should I compile vlc libs myself or maybe there is any nightly builds of android libs?

Yes, it hasn't any sync problems on desktop, on Nexus 5 and Nexus 10. By the way - stock player and MX Palyer haven't such problem on Rockchip RK3188 SoC.

We don't support #2 as of now since Amlogic doesn't use MediaCodec.
Back to the problem - got MINIX NEO X8-H today (would say - the best android box of the 2014) and VLC still doesn't support it. It looks strange (I understand that "Amlogic doesn't use MediaCodec" etc) but MX Player works flawlessly, XBMC works flawlessly. Any plans to fix the situation? :)

XBMC has their own module to handle amlogic.

When I connect to my Bluetooth speaker I get as much as half sec audio lag. I tested to play different videos with different video players, the audio lag doesn't happen, so I am pretty sure it's VLC issue.

My environment:
* Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 (SM-T900)
* Android 4.4.2
* VLC version 0.9.9 (revision 8b6ff6b)

XBMC has their own module to handle amlogic.
I know, but MX Player has the same codec and it just works :) Anyway back to VLC - I've found that old vlc version works on amlogic!!!

Code: Select all

D/VLC ( 3998): core libvlc: VLC media player - 2.2.0-git Weatherwax D/VLC ( 3998): core libvlc: Copyright © 1996-2014 the VideoLAN team D/VLC ( 3998): core libvlc: revision 2.1.0-git-2722-g5428d0e D/VLC ( 3998): core libvlc: configured with ../configure '--host=arm-linux-androideabi' '--build=x86_64-unknown-linux' '--enable-neon' '--disable-nls' '--enable-live555' '--enable-realrtsp' '--enable-avformat' '--enable-swscale' '--enable-avcodec' '--enable-opus' '--enable-opensles' '--enable-android-surface' '--enable-mkv' '--enable-taglib' '--enable-dvbpsi' '--disable-vlc' '--disable-shared' '--disable-update-check' '--disable-vlm' '--disable-dbus' '--disable-lua' '--disable-vcd' '--disable-v4l2' '--disable-gnomevfs' '--disable-dvdread' '--disable-dvdnav' '--disable-bluray' '--disable-linsys' '--disable-decklink' '--disable-libva' '--disable-dv1394' '--disable-mod' '--disable-sid' '--disable-gme' '--disable-tremor' '--disable-mad' '--disable-dca' '--disable-sdl-image' '--disable-zvbi' '--disable-fluidsynth' '--disable-jack' '--disable-pulse' '--disable-alsa' '--disable-samplerate' '--disable-sdl' '--disable-xcb' '--disable-atmo' '--disable-qt' '--disable-skins2' '--disable-mtp' '--disable-notify' '--enable-libass' '--di
So the video and audio are there!

and new version hasn't any video on amlogic:

Code: Select all

D/VLC ( 3752): core libvlc: VLC media player - 2.2.0-rc1 Weatherwax D/VLC ( 3752): core libvlc: Copyright © 1996-2014 the VideoLAN team D/VLC ( 3752): core libvlc: revision 2.2.0-pre3-114-g0a17587 D/VLC ( 3752): core libvlc: configured with ../configure '--host=arm-linux-androideabi' '--build=x86_64-unknown-linux' '--enable-neon' '--disable-nls' '--enable-live555' '--enable-realrtsp' '--enable-avformat' '--enable-swscale' '--enable-avcodec' '--enable-opus' '--enable-opensles' '--enable-android-surface' '--enable-mkv' '--enable-taglib' '--enable-dvbpsi' '--disable-vlc' '--disable-shared' '--disable-update-check' '--disable-vlm' '--disable-dbus' '--disable-lua' '--disable-vcd' '--disable-v4l2' '--disable-gnomevfs' '--enable-dvdread' '--enable-dvdnav' '--disable-bluray' '--disable-linsys' '--disable-decklink' '--disable-libva' '--disable-dv1394' '--disable-mod' '--disable-sid' '--disable-gme' '--disable-tremor' '--disable-mad' '--disable-dca' '--disable-sdl-image' '--disable-zvbi' '--disable-fluidsynth' '--disable-jack' '--disable-pulse' '--disable-alsa' '--disable-samplerate' '--disable-sdl' '--disable-xcb' '--disable-atmo' '--disable-qt' '--disable-skins2' '--disable-mtp' '--disable-notify' '--enable-libass' '--disa
and old version (revision 2.1.0-git-2722-g5428d0e) generates no "HW Acceleration failed!" error message on my Nexus 10 (CM 11).

Should I open an issue in bug-tracker?

No, because we don't have am amlogic module (yet) and they don't expose iomx/MediaCodec.

Probably you are seeing software decoding.

You're right - software decoding (HW_ACCELERATION_DISABLED) works fine on amlogic ever for HD 1080i iptv streams. Why VLC doesn't switch from HW_ACCELERATION_AUTOMATIC to HW_ACCELERATION_DISABLED on amlogic as before?

By the way it's ro.board.platform=meson8 (for MiniX neo 8) or ro.hardware=amlogic in order to add it to the class HWDecoderUtil :)

@Nysochn,

wrong topic I'm afraid, but I think you forgot to add compiled vlc libs libvlc-android-sample\libs\armeabi-v7a:

libiomx-gingerbread.so
libiomx-hc.so
libiomx-ics.so
libvlcjni.so

you can extract them from http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/android-armv7/ apks :)

Hi,

I have downloaded VLC recently and I have a problem.
I have music stored on my phone via Google drive but when I want to read it directly from VLC, it does not work. VLC locates files but can not read them. My files are .WMA .ogg .mp3.

I have a nexus 5 with Android 4.4.4

Sorry maybe I did a mistake. I actually think the problem is with google drive and no VLC. I have the same problem with .jpg files and the original viewer. The files I downloaded may not be exactly the ones I sent in the cloud via my PC and that's why VLC can not read them, elsewhere VLC does not read either the meta data of these audio files.

Hi,

I am using VLC beta for Android on my xtreamer Sidewinder 4 box with an Airmouse remote.
The problem is that every time I move my remote on the screen the video image is forwarded a couple of seconds. Maybe this option works fine on mobile phones with big screens but it is not ok for devices like Xtreamer box or other boxes that are using Android.

Thanks!
