volume for playback on the playlist

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

volume for playback on the playlist

Postby kodela » 13 Oct 2014 11:36

Hi,

Is it possible to adjust the volume for playback on the playlist individually for each object?

If so, how?

Thank you for a answer

It could work maybe if each input had a properly set replay gain. But in general, no.

Hi Rémi Denis-Courmont!

Thank you for your reply.

What do you mean by "Object had a properly set replay gain"?

If the replay gain metadata is filled in correctly, and replay gain is configured adequately in VLC.

In practice, that´s unlikely.

I quote from the help file to MP3Gain:
Lossless Gain Adjustment
...
The mp3 format stores the sound information in small chunks called "frames". Each frame represents a fraction of a second of sound. In each frame there is a "global gain" field. This field is an 8-bit integer (so its value can be a whole number from 0 to 255).
Uses the VLC this information for the change in volume?

I don't know about MP3 specifically.

Ok, I only asked: because you wrote: "It's stored in the file metadata tags"
and I could not explain to me what should be in the metadata.
