Installing on Debian Etch, Dependancy Trouble

Postby Jude Lucien » 20 Oct 2005 23:14

I am running Debian Etch and am having trouble installing VLC. I have added the following to my /etc/apt/sources.list file:

deb http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/debian sid main
deb-src http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/debian sid main

I then ran an apt-get update just fine, and then apt-get install vlc libdvdcss2. I got the following errors:

Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
vlc: Depends: libdvbpsi2 but it is not installable
Depends: libflac4 but it is not installable
E: Broken packages

I can get myself about in Linux but am no expert. If anyone can help to point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Cheers,
Jude

I just installed, and I had the same problem, this is how I solved it:

# apt-get install vlc libmodplug0c2 ffmpeg

libdvbpsi2 I cannot find either....
