Thanks to you both.
Thanks for the search tip. Not used to seeing search function built into a preferences UI.
For settings as common as this, probably shouldn't need to use 'Search.'
In either Simple or All view - what do "Allow only one running instance" & "Use only one instance when started from file manager" have to do w/ the "Playlist?"
Seems totally misplaced? Yes - there's search, but they're unrelated to the Playlist. I understand it's difficult to develop & maintain a complicated prefs listing like this.
Of the existing section titles, these 2 prefs should probably be in either Advanced or Interface.
But other apps w/ these (& certain other) settings, usually put them under more logical sounding prefs headings.
Like, "Start / Run / Exit" or "Run Program" or "General" or such.
I suggest adding a section to the prefs UI for this; possibly others.
Notepad++ has 14 main sections in prefs UI; IrfanView has 13; SMPlayer has 10 main sections. VLC has only 7.
I venture that these & other apps have many fewer prefs settings than VLC, yet more main prefs headings - for a good reason.
Is it a contest? No, but for any info list or help file, putting items in logical categories has always been good practice - much easier for users & should result in fewer support questions.
* Could there be an "official" forum topic / sticky started, where users submit change suggestions for oddities & possible mistakes in the prefs UI, to make updating it easier?
So these suggestions could be gathered in one place?
Even if users would register / login bug tracker & submit feature requests for something like changes to the prefs UI (likely, most won't), don't need a different submission for every prefs UI suggestion.
