Recovering Video Files, pref. in OS-X

Postby mlbarnes » 03 Apr 2014 00:08

Hi, I run an educational video service (on a shoestring) and deal with a lot of HD recordings.
Every now and then I get a recording that will not open.
The file size suggests that the recorded data is there, but I cannot use it.
I have had this problem with recordings from a black magic devices H264 encoder, and also using an Elgato Game Capture HD.
I have had a similar problem (on the Elgato) with one file which will play, but only 12 seconds of it (yet the file is 10GB as I would expect for what was actually an hour long session).
Is there any way to open these files and get the full video out of them?
Thanks for any pointers!

Martyn

Both are 1920x1080p25 as H264 /AVC in an MP4 wrapper.
