First 1-4 seconds of playback (any format) pixelated badly

Postby SamuraiOne » 13 May 2014 05:07

Hi,

No matter what format I choose (.mpg, .wmv, .avi), initially there is a half-second where the first frame or so is clean but only for an instant, then the vast majority of the playback is pixelated and corrupted heavily for about 3 or 4 seconds. If you create a loop that is 6 seconds long, you'd routinely only see about the last 2 seconds of it cleanly and then the effect restarts with the beginning of the loop. Once the effect goes away, as long as you don't move the slider. If you move the slider, the effect begins again and last 3-4 seconds from that spot. That means that making Vine-length videos is near impossible with VLC.

I have tried every single video output module available. Nothing has even a tiny positive effect. I had this problem in 32-bit Win 7 and 64-bit Win 7. I love VLC's many user-friendly options. Having to settle for cumbersome, larger players capable of making subclips is horribly undesirable and settling for Windows' feature-poor tool set is even less desirable.

I've searched this topic and have seen people seem to succeed in ridding themselves of the issue, but their tips had no effect on my issue. I have flipped every setting in the app, restarted and tried again, but nothing works. Please show me how VLC can remain my choice by solving this issue.

Many thanks,

S1

Furthermore, I just rebuilt the entire machine on Saturday with absolutely everything but the case being brand-new. I had the problem before and after that, also. :(

I have the same problem. It just started happening a couple months ago but now it happens with any version I try to install.

I have the same problem. However it is much worse with WMV files, and some of them will not play at all although they will play with every other player I have tried.
I've used VLC for ages but I think it might be time for a change.

it was a problem in the past particular with seeking wmv files
but with 2.1.5 i found only 1 wmv file so far which shows some pixels for 1 sec during seeking
everything else is working ok
(tested with hardware decoding disabled)
