Performance issues on HTC Desire 816

Postby maak » 24 Jul 2014 14:31

Hi there !

Just got a new phone, the HTC Desire 816, and VLC just runs veeeery bad on it. Depending on the file, the video may lags, sound randomly cuts or is not sync correctly, well, performances issues.
I had before that the first HTC Desire on which VLC used to run just fine with any type of video file.

Can I help you improve that in any way ?

Thank you !

OS Android OS, v4.4.2 (KitKat)
Chipset Qualcomm MSM8928 Snapdragon 400
CPU Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A7
GPU Adreno 305

These are not awesome specs but far better than my former phone.

I think I tried everything I could ^^'
Hardware acceleration is on "Automatic". I saw no improvement changing this setting to any other choice.
Deblocking is on "No Deblocking". Some videos works better with that but I still have issues with some others.

Edit : I guess I have issues with poorly encoded videos, I won't deny that. But they still works fine on my former phone so I'm a bit confused about what's happening there.

Hello,

Try also to change the audio output :

Go to Preferences > Advanced > Audio Output, and set AudioTrack (Java)

It could be better, please let us know.

Return to “VLC for Android and Chrome OS”
