Issue with .ts files

Postby Jwylds » 21 Jul 2014 15:49

Not sure where to start or if vlc issue or not, but have just purchased a PVR and recorded some digital TV. The format that the PVR uses is .ts .... The strange thing I am finding, is that the .ts from some channels is able to be opened in VLC for IOS, but recordings from other channels I just get a black screen. Anyone have any idea? I can post example files somewhere if that would help?

Ok.... Just managed to open one of the problem .ts files with another media player (nplayer) and it seems as though, for some reason, there are multiple video and audio tracks.... nplayer gives you the option of selecting the track which appears to have valid video. Does vlc not recognise the multiple tracks? or does it only play track #1 ? Is there a way to change which track is played in vlc for iOS?

While VLC supports multiple video tracks (in addition to multiple audio and subtitles tracks) in a single file, the respective switcher isn't exposed in the UI right now. This will be solved with the next update (see ticket 11294).

You can try ffmpeg demuxer as a media option(":demux=ffmpeg"). This will solve the problem.
