Good EQ Settings 4 n00bs?

Hey guys,

Forgive me if this has been covered, but neither google, nor forum searchs bring this up. I'd like some good EQ settings since I'm not really a pro at adjusting EQ. The settings I'm really interested in are for hard rock and heavy metal. Even a n00bs guide to what each band will adjust and what kind of sounds we can get out of it.

Basically I want the sounds to be a good for that sort of music while sounding clean. I find the "Rock" setting to be too "tinny."

Any and all advice (except to f-off) will be welcome!

It depends on so many things, mainly the speakers and the room, that no 'standard' advice could be given.

Well I can tweak it to my tastes, but I'm sure advice can be given on what each band will influence and such. I'm using a 2.1 setup. I just need some general EQ / band information and then I can tweak them to taste. Thanks =)
