This was SW decoding, right?

To improve performance with SW decoding, you can try the following: go to Preferences, Performance, Force video chroma and set to "YUV".

I've found a website which has excellent media examples to test video players. VLC for Windows plays all files perfectly, but for android some have issues. The device is a Galaxy S4 with android 4.3.

http://www.auby.no/files/video_tests/

- Birds: playback becomes very slow after 6th second.
- hddvd: playback slow with Dolby 2.0, but even more with Dolby Plus 5.1
- Suzumiya: vertical japanese subs from ass tracks not even displayed
- Matrix: arabic subs not working

I just updated from way-back-when and wow, it looks significantly different. Audio playback is much smoother. There's significant lag time when loading the files, maybe throwing in a small animation later on would be justified? I only use the audio portion of VLC on my phone, so I can't say much about any video improvement. A pretty big issue for myself is the threshold for scrolling the screen to the side. Often when I'm trying to scroll down or up on the list, it attempts to switch to the next screen. I'll play around with it a bit more and try to keep updated. I'm currently busy being a CIS major, so who knows, I may even join the dev team in the future ;)

Hi!

I´ve got an android tv (Android 4.2.2) box (http://www.sat-anlage-augsburg.de/index ... fi-full-hd)
and try to play a hd stream via rtp. The stream is via software decoding choppy and hardware acceleration does´t work, i can only hear audio and the screen stays in the menu. I tried nightly build from today.

Can anybody help?

It seems that you are still using HW acceleration though?

Then probably your device is not powerful enough to play the video at your desired resolution.

Ok, this one (http://www.ebay.de/itm/Beelink-M8-Andro ... 2ed27551d2) should be fast enough?

The specifications look decent. But it may depend on the quality of the hardware acceleration (omx) drivers.

Ok, can perhaps a custom rom help here if it also doesn't work?

Rev.22f612f om Nexus7 - system soft buttons does not hide

Postby genesis.aix » 07 Jul 2014 12:31

Bug report;
Recently updated to to newest VLC (revisjon 22f612f 2014-07-06) and now there is a annoying problem.

The system soft buttons (alternative, home and back) is constantly shown during playback. They will not hide.
The VLC play\pause buttons never appears, and neither does the scroll\ pan bar. The only VLC chooises available during playback is the scroll up and down for brightness and volume.

Device; Nexus 7 WiFi 32GB. Stock software. Same issue om 4.4.3 and 4.4.4.
Tried to re-install VLC.

Made an account to report this [8

Thanks for the most awesome app for Android!

Hello,
I have the same problem which genesis.aix has with my Sony Xperia Z2 (android 4.4.2).
I also cannot play hi10p videos with YUV anymore and I could do it with the previous version.
Sorry for my English and I hope you fix it soon.
VLC is the best player :)

We just committed a fix for this; please try a nightly build and see if it works for you.

Great update but I cannot play my Hi10p videos with YUV yet and VLC was the only player that could keep up the frame rate with most of my videos (some of them are 1080p @ 26mbps)
With YUV I get a completely black screen, with RGB16 I get static images without move and with RGB32, it plays videos but it cannot keep the frame rate even with 720 @ 1mps.
I always had YUV in the previous version, so I am not sure the other two worked.

Thanks for your hard work ;)

I've been using VLC for quite a while now and like it very much. I use it mostly for playing mp3s and occasionally a video. Not exactly a bug, but I noticed in one of the last updates that the stop button has been removed in the program. I would like to be able to hit the stop button and close the program, but now I'm forced to go to the pop up menu in the right hand corner and have to hit the stop button there. I can see it being useful if you use a playlist a lot, but I usually jump around between folders in the program and don't find that very handy. Thanks!

Long-press the pause button.
