Looking for some help!

Postby Paul Stovall » 18 May 2014 00:39

Hi Folks,

Looking for some help if it's ok to do it here. Tried 'Windows specific'. Got a lot of reads but no suggestions. I'm running VLC 2.1.3 on my Toshiba L55 with Windows 8.1.
All of my movies are stored on a Toshiba external drive. Have checked files and all seems good. VLC will play but then freezes giving notification of 'can't read file' 'bad file descriptor'. Funny thing is is that I can restart the movie just before that spot and it will play through until such time as it freezes again??! I have tried all settings I feel safe with but get the same result. I used the same external drive on my old Toshiba with Windows 7 and never ran into a problem. Anyone know what I'm either doing wrong or not doing? It would be so nice to watch a movie without being interrupted dozens of times resetting.

Thanks for any help you might offer and your concern,
Paul

By any chance are they playing on a media player?
