Can't Find Files Xfered From PC To Ipad

Hello. I am using a HP6020 PC with Win7. I have a IPAD2 with IOS7.1 and VLC for IOS. When I select WiFi Upload and get a IP I load that into my pc Firefox and I get the VLC screen. I select a file (book) to be transfered and I get the white progress strip go from left to right pretty fast and then nothing. I can't find the transfered file anywhere on my IPAD and the pc VLC screen doesn't do anything further. It doesn's say transfered or not transfered. How do I tell what's happening? Thanks for the help.
