[iPad 3] VLC froze mid-playback, won't respond?

Postby Masked » 22 Apr 2014 01:14

Just pulled this app down from iTunes yesterday, and installed on my iPad 3.
I'm running the last iOS that was released before iOS 7 (haven't gotten around to updating).

Found the UI and file-transfer systems very intuitive, and have had a great time so far.

However, just now, while watching a .avi file, the playback froze - and the entire iPad has stopped responding to any controls.
This includes forcing a 'power down', by holding the power button down for 5+seconds.
There is no response to touchscreen commands, nor the homebutton.
It's still displaying the playback in a a frozen state, 15m later.

Even plugging it in to a power outlet gets no response - it doesn't even pop the "charging" sound and picture.

How can I reset my iPad, and regain control, and also regain playback? Right now, it's effectively a 2lb. digital picture frame....
and it's kinda giving me the willies.

Sorry to hear that. This is actually not an issue directly connected to VLC.

Try pressing both of your iPad's physical buttons (the one below the screen and on top where you lock the device) for 30 seconds straight and see if it reboots. Before that, attach your power plug.
