How to get Audio to work with Desk top streaming

I am trying to record a live web cast for a venders teaching tutorial.
I connect with the class view it on my desktop record it with VLC and get the video but not the audio?
this is what I am doing.
I go to Media > Save/ convert
at open media >capture device
Desktop 100F/s
Convert /save Convert to a MP4
play file and just get video
I do not get any audio output

Audio device is set to speakers
how can i get it to record the audio out put from the speakers.

The GUI lacks support for (desktop) audio capture.
