Streaming Audio From Mac Not Working

I have been trying to stream the audio and video output of my Mac to my iPad using VLC. The video works fine, and actual files work fine, but the audio does not stream when I try and "Open Capture Device...". I'm using Soundflowerbed, which works fine with Quicktime, but not with VLC. The selector on the "Open Capture Device" screen seems broken too. I can't change or select the correct audio device there, but I can on the "Input" tab, so it carries over, but still does not work.
