VLC 2.1.2 display WMV problem

Postby michaelbr » 01 Feb 2014 12:59

I have VLC 2.1.2 install on a Windows 8.1 laptop. I had no problem playing MP4 files, but lately I downloaded WMV files, and VLC is showing the following problems that I've noticed so far:
- it's difficult to close VLC (lagging few seconds after clicking the exit)
- even after closing VLC, the sounds is still there for few more seconds
- sometimes when you try to advance (by clicking on the progress bar ahead of where it's displaying), it just goes back to the beginning, sometimes it shows screens with colored squares.
ps: the same file can be displayed by WMP with no problem.

Is there anything that I have to do to display WMV files? Do I need to install additional filters?
Thanks for your comment/suggestion
Michael

Please try VLC 2.2.0, where we fixed the WMV support.

I'm having similar issues. However, I can't find any VLC 2.2.0. It looks like the latest version is 2.1.3. Is the 2.2 version forthcoming? Or am I missing something here? Thanks.
