2.1.3 does not detect existing and working audio driver

Postby lowiq77 » 05 Feb 2014 18:49

Dear all,

On Win7 I use a USB video adapter (Targa Silvercrest SVG 2.0A1). It comes with the video editing software CyberLink PowerDirector. I connect a Peritel (SCART) output to the adapter, and in PowerDirector I have image and sound. The audio device is listed as AF9035.

But with VLC 2.1.3, I get only the image, no sound (.mp3 and .mp4 files play OK image and sound).

Previously on WinXP, with VLC 2.0.5, when clicking Media/Open capture device/Audio devices/Refresh, the scroll-down menu showed WDM 2863, the XP equivalent of AF9035, that was automatically detected.

In 2.1.3, most sadly, the Refresh button has disappeared. Nevertheless, at no time the audio scroll-down menu shows the AF9035.

How is it possible to make 2.1.3 look for all available devices, and detect and list AF9035? As PowerDirector plays image and sound with this device and with this driver, so the problem may not be with the driver, nor with the device hardware.

I have looked I believe through all the possible options in 2.1.3, without finding some "Force detect" option, nor AF9035 listed anywhere to be selected. Also, I tried to uninstall both and install the driver first and then 2.1.3, and then uninstall both and install first 2.1.3 and then the driver, to no avail.

Please advise, thank you,
