Hello,

I wish to report that I had the very same problem as the two previous posters after updating to VLC 2.1.2 64 bits today (had to downgrade back to my previous version...2.1.0 64 bits...since version 2.1.1 64 bits, which I tried first, also gave me the same error message when trying to read a DVD that version 2.1.0 had been able to read without any problem before the update) the only difference is that I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bits.

Hope you can tell us what the problem is or fix it so we can update.

Hello,

I would like to mention that I've been having the same exact problems with this new version. I had to downgrade to a previous version to make my DVD's work and some video files. I have Windows 8.1 (VLC - 2.1.2 64 bits). Hopefully next update this gets fixed.

I am getting exactly the same problem, VLC 2.1.2 64-bit on Windows 8.1 won't open a DVD. Using the 32-bit version works fine. 2.1.0 64-bit wouldn't work for me either, but 2.0.8 64-bit does work.

Reporting the same problem since updating to v2.1.2 on Windows 7 64bit.
As an aside - the "About" information doesn't show architecture (i.e. 32bit or 64bit) information, this should be fixed too.

Could we please get an update from dev on ETA for a fix?

Use VLC 2.1.2 32bits or wait for VLC 2.1.3 64bits.

When is 2.1.3 scheduled for release?

Could dev please add a test for this functionality before releasing an update?
It's fairly fundamental functionality and shouldn't get through release testing.

I saw same problem.
Here is my environment:

OS: Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter (Japanese, 64-bit)
VLC: 2.1.2 Rincewind (64-bit)

How do I gather logs?

I'm having the same issue too. Going to the 32 bit version has resolved the issue for me.

I had the same problem with VLC 2.1.2 on my Windows 7 Home Premium desktop (64-bit) - apparently it's something in the last build of the program. I resolved it by going BACK to VLC 2.1.1 that I downloaded at the following site:

http://download.videolan.org/pub/videol ... 1.1/win64/

Hopefully they will fix the problem in the next release - for now I would just avoid 2.1.2...

32 bit version worked for me!
