VLC 2.1.2 - Remote / Web : impossible to connect

Hello everybody,

I try to explain my problem in english...
Yesterday VLC worked fine and I could use "wifiremoteply" perfectly.
Today I have updated VLC, and "wifiremoteplay" does not work at all.
I have verified, my .host file is ok.
I discover that I can't obtain the web interface no more, perhaps the two problems are linked ?
When I do " http://localhost:8080/" on my PC (windows 7), I hav to give a user and a password, but I never put any user and password, so I cannot connect myself...

Hello,

I can now connect to my PC using the web interface and giving a password, but this not usefull because I want to obtain the interface on my phone.
And my phone ask for a username and it is not possible to complete it with nothing ; it is possible on the PC, I have just to complete the password and ignore the username, because the twos are on a unique page.
On my phone I have to give something for username in order to obtain that it ask me the password, and necesseraly the username is false, so no possible connection...

Finally, I have the response from Wifi Remote Play support : VLC is not compatible starting from 2.1.0 version, so the only solution is to install an older version.
(setting a password don't solve the problem, I have already tested it)

Unfortunately it turns out that VLC 2.1.0 has changed the web interface without backwards compatibility (see https://wiki.videolan.org/Documentation ... _and_later ), so it won't work with Wifi Remote Play until I update it. Also unfortunately I don't think I will have this fixed and tested by the time Nokia block updates for Symbian apps on Nokia Store ( http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/news/ite ... plicat.php ). Using Media Player Classic (or older VLC versions) is the best option. Thanks for the info.

I have the same kind of problem with VLC 2.1.2 :
I can connect from my PC navigator to the VLC server but my Android phone remote software, android-vlc-remote by Peter Baldwin, the first Free VLC remote in the google play list, seems to fail to connect.
More precisely, if password is not set in VLC options, a message says in the remote that a password must be set, but when i set the password, no server responds (it doesn't ask for a password).
However this android remote software documentation state that it is OK for VLC version with password function..
Maybe something is simply not explained enough in the VLC web (http lua) interface configuration with password (which seems to be mandatory on 2.1.x, not just an option) : a nice screenshot would be better than only text.

Answer will be also "change remote" ?
In this case can you say which free remote is OK with this new VLC version ?

At this time i have choose another option : downgraded to 2.0.8 and remote funtion is fine.
