2.1.2 DirectX display device can't be changed

Postby Coronos » 20 Dec 2013 21:19

Hello,

I just updated to VLC 2.1.2 and now DirectX video output doesn't allow me to change the default display device like it used to. I initially updated without uninstalling the previous version (2.0.8, I think) or clearing any preferences. When I found these problems, I cleared the preferences, uninstalled 2.0.8, and re-installed 2.1.2. It made no difference.

IIRC, DirectX video output used to list the laptop display and both attached monitors as options to display the video, but now it just says "default", and the "refresh" button is missing.

Any suggestions?

Go in advanced preferences for that.

That was the first thing I tried. The only option in the dropdown box is "default."

I've got the same issue.
I went back to version 2.0.8, which was the most current version, that shows me all my display devices again.
Hopefully it can be fixed in a future release.

Yes, I hope so too! This is really quite an important feature to me (which I detail: https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=116578) It's quite frustrating not having this feature! I may have to resort to another media player for Windows- fortunately this isn't my primary OS of choice.

Do the developers know? Has a ticket been submitted? Clearly JB knows, but that doesn't mean he submitted the bug...
