two most important things vlc is missing

IMO, when you click on the status bar, vlc should jump the music/video to exactly where you clicked, not around it.

Second, when watching full screen, if you move your mouse to the bottom, the status bar with volume control should display.

These two features are vital to VLC and I was dissappointed to see they weren't in the latest nightly builds =(

1/ this is due to the wxWidgets library (we don't want to re-implement a slider). We have tried numerous times to change that ... but we never managed to.

2/ on windows, you can enable the "showintf" control interface in the prefs.

When I do that, the window that appears is the same size as the original video.

This is because you use the "embedded" mode of the wxWidgets interface. If you deactivate it in the preferences, it won't happen anymore (but of course the video won't be in the same window as the interface).
