problem playing 16-bit FLAC file with 2.1.1

The sound stutters occasionally.

MP3 and 24-bit FLAC files seem to work ok. I used the three files of example 1, at the bottom of http://www.eclassical.com/pages/24-bit-faq.html to test this.

VLC 2.0.8 works ok on all three files.

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. Both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of VLC 2.1.1 for Windows have the same problem with the 16-bit FLAC file.

This problem has a thread in the Windows help forum. While I hadn't realized it only affected 16 bit FLAC files, I had the same problem; also with Win 7 64 bit. I reverted to version 2.1.0 which can be found on this page. http://download.videolan.org/vlc/ Scroll to the bottom and you'll see 2.1.0 listed. I'm having no trouble playing things with this version. Hope this helps.
