.xspf kills!

Hi. I have downloaded a .xspf file from my friend who has mailed it to me. When I try to open the file, it reports an error, "Bad file." The VLC player also keeps flickering when I try to open it. I am using Windows XP sp2 32-bit OS. Please help me.
