PLEASE PLEASE HELP....I give up : streaming

Postby lanman » 02 Nov 2013 01:18

hi guys

ive read the forum and how to's back to front....i see a few people with the same issue but no one says how to resolve

I simply want to stream a movie playing on my laptop to my phone ( end goal is to stream dvb-t to phone)

so i open vlc go to stream ....add the file ....go through to http then port 8080 then to the format i want to stream

the video opens and freezes immediately but the sound keeps playing ( this only happens after i updated to 2.1.0 ...didnt happen in 2.0.8)

then i open another vlc and try to watch the stream from the network....i enter the http://192.#.#.#:8080 .....it waits then it says unable to open MRL

i have turned firewall off and on ....i went into my router and opened port 8080 (port checker said it wasnt open....but after opening in router it now says that it is open)

i have now been at it for no less then 8 hours and still cant get anything to work?....im seriously thinking its cursed and to try another program....but everyone recommended this one so i wanted to see it through

did i not turn the port on correctly?
am i not putting the http in correctly?
is there something im not doing correctly?

Im completely new to this...but i thought i was doing everything correctly....any help would be awesome!!!!

PS: i opened a youtube http in the open network stream and it opened fine....

Thankyou for your reply remi....what does this mean exactly? Vlc isnt sending info to my router when streaming? Why would it do this? Im not very experienced but definitely capable of learning

main debug: adding item `http ://192.#.#.#:8080' ( http://192.#.#.#:8080 )
where are the messages from server VLC?
I simply want to stream a movie playing on my laptop to my phone ( end goal is to stream dvb-t to phone)
i have turned firewall off and on ....i went into my router and opened port 8080 (port checker said it wasnt open....but after opening in router it now says that it is open)
that is needed if phone is outside home network?

Speaking of firewall, could nightly have constant name because many entries in win FW?
An' if ain't broke, then don't try to fix it...
