VLC 2.1.0 Crashes only when Converting Files

Postby SevenFactors » 20 Oct 2013 16:00

This is driving crazy for I can't understand why VLC is crashing. With each crash I have let VLC submit a crash report so hopefully this gets fixed soon.

I've reinstalled VLC without a permanent solution.

What exactly am I converting? A video potcast which is only available by way in a .FLV file. These files are usually around 130 MBs

I've been using VLC to convert these files to .MP3 without issues, that is untill VLC v2.1.0. Each time I execute the file conversion VLC creates a 0MB file and then crashes.

I really hope to see this solved soon.

First, reset VLC preferences:
http://wiki.videolan.org/Reset_prefs

How to get to a MS-DOS prompt:
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chdos.htm

Then run VLC with this command line:

Code: Select all

vlc --extraintf=logger --verbose=2 --logfile=C:\vlc.log --logmode=text --file-logging
You may have to change the path to the destination file for a location folder where you're allowed to write in.
Start your conversion then post the full resulting log.

I have the exact same issue as the OP since 2.1.0, and the above thing did nothing at all, it still crashes.

Please excuse delayed replied. Recent events have kept me without time for this task. Anyways, as requested, here is the log dump

I have the exact same issue as the OP since 2.1.0, and the above thing did nothing at all, it still crashes.
The above is not meant to solve the issue, it is meant for us to provide them with logs will help them see/find and hopefully fix the issue.

Just wanted to also add that I've tried deleting preferences and even done clean installs on never touched OS and still have issues with audio transcoding. It has worked on every version of VLC in the 2.0.x line without issue until v2.1.0.

This is an example command I use at the command line

Code: Select all

start vlc -Idummy --no-crashdump udp://@:2000 --sout-ts-dts-delay 400 ":sout=#transcode{acodec=a52,ab=128,channels=1,samplerate=48000}:std{access=udp{ttl=1},mux=ts,dst=192.168.99.2:20}"
Just to add, uninstalling v2.1.0 and going back to v2.0.8 everything works again fine. So something definitely unique to v2.1.0

Yeah. We're fixing important things for 2.2.
