Audio disappears at same position every time

I've been having nagging problems for quite some time now with audio playback in certain video files.
What happens is that audio will suddenly be cut off, just to return in ~2 seconds.
This happens at the exact same position in the video file every time and I've experienced this with numerous video files.
I've used the log and what I can see is this, which I'm guessing is related:

Note that this issue cannot be reproduced with other Media players.

Issue reproduced with 2.1.0, 2.1.1 (nightly) & 2.2.0 (nightly). Reset the logs through VLC and directly on filesystem multiple times to no avail.
OS: Mac OS X 10.7.5

Any ideas?

This is happening with every .mkv file I play too. The audio will drop out for exactly 2 seconds while the video keeps playing. It does this about every 15 minutes or so. It is not associated with any particular part of the movie because the drop out will occur at different spots each time the same file is played.

I'm watching these clips on my TV via HDMI hooked up to my MacBook Pro, if that matters...

BTW, I've tried the last two nightly builds and the issue persists. I'm also unable to wipe the preferences file with the tool in the "Goodies" folder, because the tool says it's corrupt.

wanting to bump this feed; I'm a new macbook pro owner (using osx10.8.5 , 2.5ghz i5, 4gb ram, brand new) and have the same problem. Through hdmi the playback cuts sound (video stays ok) and audio drops out for around 2 seconds and happens every couple of minutes. All plays fine when selecting audio output to be on the macbook but through hdmi is bad. Have checked the cable, tried other files etc. Wondering if this is a known issue and if theres anything I can try/do? *I'm still getting used to the mac system so nothing too technical/ step by step if pos!!!

always used windows in the past and have to say, literally never had a problem with VLC and don´t particularly want to have to change but this issue makes playback through hdmi to tv (which is what I use most) almost impossible

(also, I saw people have had trouble with mkv files- this was .mkv files that I was using, is there a problem with VLC/OSX/MKV?)

Just downloaded "mac player" and it´s actually even worse!! audio and video cut outs. Hoping there's a quick fix for this!
