Hi there,

I am running RedHat 9.0 and I successfully installed VLC. When I try to start the program, I get the following errors:

[prash@atoms prash]$ vlc

[00000224] main dialogs provider error: no dialogs provider module matched "any"
[00000223] skins2 interface error: No suitable dialogs provider found
Couldn't gzopen /home/prash/.vlc/skins2/default.vlt

[00000223] skins2 interface error: Failed to open /home/prash/.vlc/skins2/default.vlt for reading

The player starts but whenever I click any button, i get the skins2 interface error.

Somebody please Help!!!!

Do you have WxWidgets or WxWindows installed? Note that you need at least version 2.4.2, preferably 2.6.x.

I have installed the wxWidgets-2.6.2

I have installed the wxWidgets-2.6.2, but the vlc respond that "no dialog provider module match 'any' ". I really need help to solve the problem. I have spent so many days on the problem.

Did you compile vlc yourself?
Did you enable the wxwindows module (it should be the case by default)?
Do you have a libwxwindows_plugin.so file?
Do you have a warning about a library that cannot be loaded, when you start vlc with 'vlc -vv'?

I have wxwidgets_plugin.so file in my directory tree, but nothing changed... I've compiled VLC by myself with all recommended options...

Hello,

Try starting vlc with -vvv --color and look for warning message, like "unable to load libwxwidgets_plugin.so"
