wishful thinking, after comp was sleeping few hrs and when trying to open videofile with VLC 2.1.0 keepscrashing. I'll revert to 2.0.8 until dev team figures what causes crashes.

More info needed. What is your OS ? What is your CPU ?

Try another video output module:
http://wiki.videolan.org/WindowsFAQ-2.0 ... _output.3F

And/or disable/enable GPU acceleration:
http://wiki.videolan.org/WindowsFAQ-2.0 ... age_errors

You can also try to enable or disable some video options such as Overlay and/or Hardware YUV -> RGB conversions.

OIS: WinXP 64bit

CPU: Core2Quad

GPU: Radeon 4870

Its related to HW acceleration as stated here https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=114095.

As per other users, I am seeking a solution to the VLC 2.1.0 program continually crashing.
I have been using VLC for a number of years without any problems. It's a great program.
Suddenly with the update to VLC 2.1.0 it won't work.
I am a Windows XP user.
I have downloaded and re-loaded VLC 2.1.0 several times in an effort to solve the problem.
I get the messages "Oops, VLC just crashed. Send bug report to development. team".
Then it tells me " Error transferring data to FTP server".

Come on chaps, get a bug fix out there ASAP. :(

I've tried VLC 2.1.1 as suggested by a recent thread.
VLC is still crashing. Why? :(

Its related to HW acceleration as stated here https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=114095.
OS: WinXP 64bit
Can't be because hardware acceleration is not enabled on XP, it requires Vista or newer.
If you're using a 64-bit build of VLC then try with the 32-bit build.

To all: try to reset the preferences:

I can enable HW Acceleration in XP64 and it worked fine in 2.0.x, I switched to 64bit VLC and nothing changed from 32bit, 32bit VLC kept crashing if played vids after awakening comp from sleep.

confirmed, same issue here.

Windows 7 Ultimate, and GeForce 7300 GT, if you enable HW Acceleration in VLC 2.1.0 it always crash when you try to play something, even if you change the setting to auto.

in previous version HW Acceleration was working fine.

Changing "skip H.264 in-loop deblocking filter" to ALL from NONE seems to work for me for now.
