Can not display Chinese subtitles

I used the Android phone, look the mkv can not display Chinese subtitles, subtitles is ass, but english subtitles is No problem.

Try setting the encoding in the preferences to 'Universal, Chinese (GB18030)', restart VLC, and see if it helps.

Or just convert your subtitles to UTF-8.

I subtitles have Chinese , Japanese and English, only English is No problem, but Chinese and Japanese not daisplay.
I try UTF-8 , Chinese (GB18030), Traditional Chinese (big5), Japanese can not solve. Have the computer Windows VLC is normal operation.

This is a SSA subtitles, it is always UTF-8

NO, this is a ASS subtitles, I can not see squares, Chinese and Japanese subtitles can not be displayed but english subtitles can show.

He is asking what kind of characters you see instead of the desired Chinese/Japanese/Korean.

This could be potentially a problem of fonts missing characters.
