Audio wont work for DVDs

Postby AcidJazz » 24 Sep 2005 22:04

The audio seems to work fine whenever I use them for video files other than dvds...

I'm having the same problem, here's some output of the view->messages log:

Well, I guess I should have finished my searching before posting.

The problem is that vlc can't find the a52 codec it needs to decode the dvd audio.

In Gentoo, I simply added a52 to my 'USE' variables, unmergered VLC, and then emerged VLC (which then pulled the a52 dependency, per my USE variable)

How you'll do this on other systems, I have no idea. You'll probably need to go find the a52 codec somewhere, and install that yourself, and then re-install VLC.

Good Luck. (My DVD Audio now works beautifully)

(This is a double-post, because I haven't created an account, so couldn't edit my previous post.)
