Have you read the post right above yours ?
To change record directory:
Tools / Preferences / Input & Codecs / Files: Record Directory or Filename
vlc-2.2.0-git-20130922-0403-win64 records non

install vlc-2.1.0-win32.exe fin on win 7 x64, no record files ip-tv (
2.0.8 win64 writes fine, but crach bug when games start steam

Thanks for that, Perplexer. I too failed to get the direct editing method to work, but that link solved the problem.

Ah I got it to work now. I used the GUI itself to set the path I wanted. I used this guide: http://wiki.robotz.com/index.php/Record ... o_With_VLC
I have no idea why editing the configuration file with Notepad did not work.
Except it is (now) in the ""Advanced" group (near the bottom), not "Files".
